Bernard St Aubyn Henry, executive chairman of Great Bay Joint Venture Company, the developers of Treasure Bay Estates, says his family’s longstanding commitment to the Treasure Beach community remains as strong as ever.

“For over eight decades, it has been part of our family’s story. The legacy began with ownership by Glen Henry, my father, and remains closely tied to Treasure Beach. It reflects our belief that Treasure Beach is one of Jamaica’s premier coastal communities to invest in and call home,” Henry said.

Long before it became a global destination, Treasure Beach was a quiet south coast fishing community built on authenticity, culture and community pride.

That philosophy was shaped by Desmond Henry, who served as director of tourism from 1978 to 1980 at the Jamaica Tourist Board. At a time when Caribbean tourism was focused largely on sun-and-sand marketing, Henry championed a broader vision of Jamaica as culture, people and lived experience. He believed tourism should connect visitors to communities while preserving local identity.

His work helped position Treasure Beach as one of Jamaica’s earliest examples of community-driven tourism. Visitors were encouraged to stay in locally owned villas, enjoy fresh seafood, experience farm-to-table living and embrace the natural tranquillity of the south coast.

Today, that vision continues through Treasure Bay Estates.

Spanning approximately 44 acres, the development is master-planned to include 130 villa lots, carefully designed around long-term sustainability and organised growth. Its elevated setting offers sweeping views of the Caribbean Sea along the south coast, allowing many home sites to capture uninterrupted ocean vistas while preserving the open, peaceful character that defines Treasure Beach.
