ST MARY, Jamaica — Three men have been arrested for alleged involvement in a robbery where commuters experiencing car trouble were held up.

Reports indicate that on Saturday, approximately 5:30 am three individuals had stopped on a section of the Golden Valley main road in St Mary after the motor vehicle they were travelling in developed mechanical difficulties.

While they were attempting to carry out repairs, they were reportedly approached by a man who brandished an object resembling a firearm and robbed them of approximately $1 million in cash, along with other valuables, before escaping the area.

Following the incident, police in St Mary and St Andrew launched a coordinated operation between 10:00 am and 2:30 pm the same day in sections of Stony Hill, St Andrew, which resulted in the arrest of three male suspects in connection with the incident.

During the operation, items reported stolen in the robbery were recovered, including cellular phones and personal items belonging to the complainants.

The premises of the suspects were also searched during the operation.

The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
