WESTERN PROFILE: Keri Page
Despite a hectic schedule, Westmoreland native Christine Salmon says she is committed to both her apparel business and singing career.
Singjay with the stage name Keri Paige, the former Mannings School student has been singing for more than a decade. She admits, however, that she is yet to carve out a name for herself, in the male-dominated music industry.
These days, when not on music business, Keri Paige for the most part, can be found at her store, KP’s Fashion, located at 90 Great Georges Street in Savanna- la- Mar, Westmoreland, where she sells a wide variety of merchandise, including shoes, cologne, as well as clothing and fashion accessories.
Her store has been voted by the Westmoreland-based Queen ‘T’ Promotions, as the leading fashion store in Savanna-la-Mar for the past two years.
OBS West: What is your biggest challenge at the store?
KP: There aren’t any real challenges for me in the store business right now, as I am satisfied with the many customers that I get on a daily basis.
OBS West: How do you survive under these harsh economic conditions?
KP: Well, I try to work with my customers’ budget and to minimise my expenses.
OBS West: Are there any plans for expansion?
KP: Yes. I am planning on opening a store overseas and maybe even go into designing.
OBS West: What would you say to persons who desire to set up a similar business?
KP: You have to do a feasibility study to determine what the fashion world wants.
You also have to move with fashion trends and ensure that you have workers who are prepared to give good customer service.
Customers are what the business depends on, so if you
treat them right, then your business will succeed.
