Emergency repairs to broken main along Mandela Highway
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Water Commission (NWC)is advising the public that it will be undertaking repairs to its transmission main situated along Mandela Highway in St Andrew commencing today, February 6.
A news release from the company said that the repairs are expected to be completed within the next 24-36 hours and are necessary to restore water to affected sections of St Catherine and Kingston and St Andrew that are served by the Ferry System.
Affected areas are: Ferry Hill tanks, Windsor Heights, Part of Greendale, Central Village, Twickenham Park Industrial Estate, Twickenham Park Housing Scheme, Parts of Spanish Town, Washington Gardens & Washington Boulevard, downtown Kingston, Spanish Town Road, Duhaney Park, Spanish Town Road and Molynes booster.
The NWC is urging all motorists to exercise due caution in the proximity of the work site and to obey the signals of the work crew.
In addition, customers served by the Forest Hills Relift Station are being advised that their regular water supply will be completed as soon as the repair works are completed to the broken distribution pipelines in the Kirkland area.
