Smart returns to court next week for bail application
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Dwayne Smart, the police corporal charged with the murder of a pregnant woman in St Thomas, is to return to the Home Circuit Court next week for a bail application.
The application was expected to be made Friday but postponed for the defence to obtain from the prosecution a videotape of the incident, which could be of assistance.??
A firm date has not been set for the application, which is to be made attorney by Valerie Neita-Robertson.
Smart is accused of shooting to death eight-month pregnant Kay-Ann Lamont in Yallahs after he tried to arrest her for using indecent language.
Lamont’s sister was also shot in the incident after she allegedly went to Kay-Ann’s assistance.
