Two injured in Melrose Hill crash
MANCHESTER, Jamaica – Two people — a male and a female — were injured in a four-vehicle collision on Melrose Hill in Manchester Saturday evening.
The injured man has been identified as 59-year-old Glenrick Simpson. The state of his injuries are not considered life threatening, while the young woman was heard complaining of pain in her right leg.
It is reported that the driver of a Toyota Tundra pick-up attempted to overtake a line of traffic heading up Melrose Hill towards Mandeville when his vehicle collided with a Toyota Wish, a Honda Fit and a Toyota Corolla.
Simpson who was travelling in the back of the pick-up was thrown from the vehicle and sustained injuries to his forehead. The injured female was a passenger in the Toyota Wish. Both were taken to the Mandeville regional hospital for treatment.
Lazelle Salmon, the driver of the Corolla gave his account of what transpired.
“Boy, a mi first him lick … Me see him a overtake and me a seh how him a come up so wide and before me could swing him ram my fender and spin round an lick the other vehicle them,” Salmon told OBSERVER ONLINE.
The police arrived on the scene shortly after and marshalled traffic flow.
