Woman arrested for forging loan documents
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – The police have arrested and charged a Spanish Town woman who allegedly submitted forged documents to secure a loan.
Charged with breaches of the Larceny Act is 48-year-old Vivienne Pinnock, a chef of Thompson Pen in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
Reports are that in January 2013 Pinnock presented documents including reference letters, as well as guarantor forms to a loan agency in order to secure a loan of J$15,000. The loan subsequently went into arrears and the guarantor was contacted to answer to a breach of contract. The listed guarantor, upon being summoned, indicated that she had never agreed to be guarantor for the loan.
As a result, a report was made to the Fraud Squad and an investigation was launched. Examinations done by the Questioned Document Section of the Jamaica Constabulary Force revealed that the documents submitted by the accused, in order to secure the loan, were forged.
Pinnock was subsequently arrested and charged for obtaining money by means of false pretence. She is scheduled to appear before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Monday, January 18, 2016.
