MoBay man fined for failing to complete community service hours
MONTEGO Bay resident, Robert Williams was fined $3000 when he appeared before the city’s Resident Magistrate’s court Thursday, for violating a community service order against him.
Williams was originally given 80 hours of community service. However, he only worked five hours one day, and did not return. When Williams first appeared in court Wednesday, he told judge Paulette Williams he did not complete his service because had no road to travel on. He later changed his story claiming that he could not find taxi fare.
But said Judge Williams: “You are remanded, just in case the road gives way again tonight, or you can’t find taxi fare”, following which she asked for the original charge.
He was subsequently fined $3,000 or 30 days in prison.
