Hal Jackson’s Talented Teens Finals for Club Inferno tonight
Ten talented contestants between the ages of 13 and 16 will tonight vie for the crown, “Miss Hal Jackson’s Talented Teens Jamaica 2002”, at a function to be held at the Club Inferno, Rose Hall, Montego Bay.
The event is being staged by Unity Promotions in association with the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission.
The winner will receive a scholarship valued at US$5,000, a diamond ring and trips to England, St Marteen, the US and British Virgin Islands.
She will also participate in the Hal Jackson’s Talented Teens International contest to be held in New York in July.
Della Hamby, Miss Hal Jackson’s Talented Teens International 2001, will be the special guest at the event.
The event was last staged in Jamaica in 1986 and was won by Michelle Bailey.
Hanover and Trelawny festival queens to be crowned this weekend
The Hanover Festival Queen for the year 2002 will be selected tonight at a function to be held at the Ruseas Comprehensive High School in Hanover.
The contestants seeking to wear the crown are Latoya Reid, Imogene Moore, Alcia (NOT ALICIA) Bernaud, Roxanne Reece, Nixicy Steen, St Rachel Haye and Monica Vaccianna.
Among the prizes the Queen will receive are $20,000 in cash, a weekend for two at Hedonism and a microwave. The first runner-up will walk away with a cash prize of $10,000 and a weekend for two at Point Village, Negril.
Music will be provided by the Ninja Force Band.
Meanwhile, Trelawny’s Queen will be crowned tomorrow night at a function at the Starfish Resort, near Falmouth.
Nine contestants will face the judges at the event that begins at 8:00 pm.
They are Heidi-Ann Butler, Doneida Simpson, Sherita Harriot, Dana Jarrett, Sandra Chattoo, Erica Anderson, Josette Lewis, Alecia Besley and Kimberley Williams.
Last year, 19 year-old Terry-Ann Tucker was selected as the Trelawny Festival Queen. She later went on to win the national title.
Black Chiney for Summer Hype 2002 tonight
Summer Hype 2002 moves into high gear at the Brewery, Gloucester Avenue tonight with popular foreign act, Black Chiney.
The Miami-based group has become one of the most sought after acts this summer and is well known for its Reggae Hip-Hop.
The Brewery’s Summer Hype promotion began last summer and has continued to maintain its popularity among young people in and around Montego Bay.
Summer Hype 2002 kicked off with top disc jockey and radio personality, Kurt Riley last month.
Heineken Startime kicks off in MoBay next Saturday
The 2002/2003 season of Heineken Startime kicks off at Caribbean Beach Park, Ironshore next Saturday.
The show, which is being staged in St James for the second time, will feature Barrington Levy, John Holt, Derrick Morgan, Ernie Smith, A J Brown and Lloyd Parkes and We The People Band.
