Still no leads in babies’ deaths
THE police are still searching for two women who they believed murdered their infant sons in separate incidents.
Two weeks ago, the dog-bitten body of a dead baby boy was found at Rose Heights in Montego Bay, but the 35 year-old woman who is wanted in connection with the discovery of the body is still at large.
The baby, who was believed to be about two days old when its lifeless body was discovered, was seen being dragged by a dog inside Rose Heights at 7:30 am on June 19. A section of his right leg was missing and the front of the small body had several dog-bite marks.
The dog left the body at a gate in the area after residents approached it.
The infant’s body was later traced back to the yard of the 35 year-old woman now being sought by the Mount Salem police who are investigating the incident.
Items of bloodied clothing were found inside a plastic bag at a garbage heap, which emanated a stench and attracted a swarm of flies.
A post-mortem examination is to be done on the baby’s body next Thursday to establish the cause of death.
More than a month ago, the partially-burnt body of another baby boy was found near Cornwall Courts and the woman suspected of being responsible for his death is yet to be apprehended.
The police have no description of her.
That baby boy was discovered near a pond in Cornwall Courts with vultures eating its charred flesh.
The body was discovered partially burned with his umbilical chord still attached to his navel on Sunday, May 12.
The arms and legs were bent at the elbows and the thumbs were touching what used to be his mouth.
One resident reportedly saw a woman lighting a fire in the area the night before the gruesome discovery but had thought little of it since residents usually burn their garbage at that spot.
The woman who lit the fire is said to have been in her late 20s or early 30s and a navy blue Nissan motor car with silver sides.
Anybody with information is asked to contact the Mount Salem police at 952-4997 or 952-3572 or 119.
