$300 m for upgrading work on Dunn’s River Falls and Park
THE Urban Development Corporation(UDC) has earmarked approximately $300 million to facilitate continuing upgrading work on the Dunn’s River Falls and Park in St Ann.
Executive manager of the UDC, Gloria Royale Davis, said the work was intended to improve the general facilities and service delivery, as well as the ambiance of the park to make for a more pleasant visitor experience, while ensuring sustainability of its natural attributes.
“We are also constructing a new pier to accommodate larger boats,” she said, adding that when completed, the Dunn’s River Falls and Park, including beach facilities, would become world, renowned.
She was speaking at the seventh and final St Ann UDC Best Kept School Competition awards ceremony on Wednesday at the Ferncourt High School auditorium.
In addition to the work being carried out at Dunns River, the UDC executive manager said work was also underway on the parcel of land opposite the Jerk pit on the Ocho Rios main road to St Ann’s Bay.
“Soon, residents of Ocho Rios and surrounding areas will be able to relax at the park now being constructed by the UDC,” she boasted, pointing out that the park would have gazebos, play areas for children and a snake walkway.
