Six murders reported last Friday
SIX persons were murdered on Friday, bringing to 39, the number of Jamaicans killed since the beginning of the year.
Police said the six victims are:
. Desmond Rose, 42, of Dillon Town, Guys Hill, St Catherine;
. Patrick Francis, otherwise called “Wingie”, 15, of Hanover Street, Kingston;
. Raymond Allen, alias “Pops” of Norman Lane, Kingston 13;
. Steve Beason, 27;
. Andrew Nelson, 35, both of Dempshire Pen, Spanish Town, St Catherine; and
. Ronald Forrest, 62, also known as “Joe” of Rose Heights, Montego Bay, St James.
Rose was among six passengers travelling in a Toyota taxi, registered 8581 DV from Linstead to Guys Hill at about 7:40 pm on Friday. On reaching Dover Castle, two of the passengers, one armed with a gun, the other with a knife, held up the driver and forced him off the route. They marched the passengers out of the car and instructed them to lie face down on the road. Rose resisted and was shot in the head. The men robbed the other passengers of cash and jewellery and raped two female passengers before they escaped with the motor car.
Francis was shot by gunmen at the intersection of Laws Street and Maiden Lane at about 3:30 in the morning.
Allen was stabbed at Norman Lane during a dispute with Frederick Fairman over a water sprinkler. The police are now looking for Fairman.
Beason and Nelson were at a roadside food shop in Spanish Town at about 9:45 pm when three men carrying hand guns entered the shop and shot them all over the body.
Forrest, a shop keeper, was found at his home with gunshot wounds at about 8:10 pm after residents heard explosions in the area and called the police.
He became the second murder victim in St James since the start of the year.
Police blotters have recorded 1,045 reported murders last year.
