Police seek motive for businessman’s murder
Police were last night still trying to determine why businessman Noel Williams of Graham Heights was shot dead Tuesday night in Ravina in what appeared to be a hit.
Williams was found with a gunshot wound at 9:00 pm, and his licensed firearm was lying beside him, said Constable Janet Richards of the Constabulary Communication Network.
Residents of the quiet upper St Andrew residential community told police they heard a gunshot, saw a man run towards a white mini-van and then drove away.
Williams was pronounced dead at the University Hospital.
The fact that neither his gun, valuables nor motor vehicle were taken has led to speculation that Williams was the victim of a contract killing.
His slaying, which has pushed the year-to-date murder toll to 127, has left persons who know him puzzled. “He didn’t strike me as someone who was mixed up in anything,” said an associate last night. “He was a very quiet person who didn’t display a lavish lifestyle.”
