Father, son again remanded on buggery charge
WESTERN BUREAU — Forty-one year-old dental technician, Ivor Thomas, and his 18 year-old son, Roy, were again remanded in custody when they appeared in the Falmouth Resident Magistrate’s Court to answer buggery charges on Wednesday.
They both appeared without lawyers and again pleaded not guilty.
They are scheduled to re-appear in Court on May 15, at which time they will have been assigned lawyers through the legal aid system.
The duo, who first appeared in court on April 2, were arrested and charged last month, for allegedly sexually assaulting an eight year-old student.
Allegations are that between February 27 and March 11 this year, the eight year-old boy visited the Thomas’ business place in Falmouth, where the father and son sexually abused him.
The police said sometime after the incident, the child reported the matter to his aunt, who subsequently lodged a complaint with the Falmouth police.
Following investigations, the two men were later arrested and charged.
As news of the incident circulated in the town, Falmouth residents expressed disgust at the allegations. And less than two hours after the two were taken into custody, fire believed to be the work of arsonists gutted the building where the elder man’s dental office was located.
