One-week church meeting in Hanover

HOPEWELL, Hanover – The Hopewell Deliverance Centre is now hosting a one-week camp meeting on the church grounds under the theme “No Jesus no peace”.

Assistant administrative manager Oral Stone says church members are hoping this year’s staging of the annual event will help address some of the issues that concern them the most.

“There is a breakdown in the family structure in the community, as most of the young people are turning to drugs,” he said. “This is one way by which stability can be brought back among families in the area.”

Different activities have been planned for the next few days and church leaders from outside the island will attend.

“Ministers are coming from different countries overseas, such as Grand Cayman, Florida and Atlanta Georgia in the US and will be special guests at this gathering,” said Stone.

He expects the meeting to go well.

“The results are always good as it will change the lives of not just the young people but also the adults,” he predicted.

There is usually no fee to participate in the yearly meetings which were first held in the tent that housed the Deliverance Centre. The Reverend Delbert Blair-led church is now housed in a modern building.
