18-year-old killed in Negril accident
The lives of two Montego Bay teens and their families were touched by tragedy this past weekend when the car in which they traveled ploughed into a wall along Norman Manley Boulevard in Negril.
Alexander King, 18, also known as ‘Alexander the Great’, was killed instantly while his friend Shadapury Fantosh, 19, was injured and hospitalised.
Up to late yesterday it was unclear whether Fantosh, who was reportedly driving the vehicle at the time of the accident, would be charged criminally. Attempts to contact the investigator proved futile as he was said to be out of office.
Meanwhile King’s family and friends mourn his passing even as they question the death of one so young.
“They had to cut my cousin out of the vehicle. We have faced so many things in the last couple of months,” said a relative of King’s who did not wish to be named.
“We lost an aunt. a little cousin and this is what happened. It is just so unexpected, it rips. It’s like a piece of you is torn.”
The accident occurred along the Norman Manley Boulevard in Negril after Shadapury, who was driving the SLK 230 Benz, lost control of the car and ploughed into a wall, the Constabulary Communication Network told the Observer yesterday.
It was 3:30am.
King, who was in the front passenger seat, was killed instantly while Shadapury incurred injuries and was admitted to hospital in serious condition.
