The 11th annual Ginn Development Scholarship Awards Ceremony will be held Wednesday at the Alhambra Inn, Kingston.
The finance and central executive committees of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association will meet Friday at 9:00 am and 11:00 am, respectively at JTA headquarters, Kingston.
Entries for Essay Contest II being run by the Summits of the Americas secretariat of the Organisation of American States are due in by latest Friday. Entries can be e-mailed to gochoa@oas.org, or sent by mail to the OAS office in Washington.
The funeral service for the late Michael R Clarke, immediate past president of the JTA, will be on Saturday at the Torrington Wesleyan Holiness Church at 10:00 am. Interment will be in the family plot at Dillion, Bigwoods, Westmoreland.
Marcia Creary, a marine scientist and the manager of the Caribbean Coastal Data Centre, at the Centre for Marine Sciences (CMS) at the University of the West Indies, Mona, is on a five-week Advanced International Training Course (COAST-2005) in Gothenburg, Sweden that started September 10. Sponsored by the Swedish International Development Co-operation Agency (SIDA), the programme focuses on integrated approaches to planning and management of coastal areas.
