Arnett beat Cavalier 3-0 in JPL

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Arnett Gardens surprised defending champions Cavalier Sport Club (SC) 3-0 in their Jamaica Premier League second round game played at the Anthony Spaulding Complex on Monday, to move five places up the points table.

Arnett Gardens avenged their first round 3-2 loss and ended a three-game run without a win to improve to move into a four-way- tie on 16 points but are in seventh place on goal-difference.

Earlier in the day at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex, Tivoli Gardens and Portmore United battled to a 2-2 draw.

The loss left Cavalier SC in fifth place on 22 points.

At the Anthony Spaulding Complex, Rushike Kelson gave Arnett the lead just before half time when he fired the ball through the legs of goalkeeper Garfield Tomlinson in the 44th minute.

Fabian Reid doubled the advantage when he scored in the 78th minute slotting home at the far left post before D’Sean Henry who came off the bench in the 80th minute to replace Reid, finished off a good team move, scoring from about two metres out in the 83rd minute.

Earlier in the day Tivoli Gardens, who finished the game with 10 players, took the lead early but had to come from behind to earn a draw.

Akeil Leachman gave Tivoli the lead in the 15th minute before Clayton Peck drew Portmore level in the 34th minute.

Javier Brown sent Portmore ahead in the 78th minute when he caught the Tivoli Gardens defenders napping and fired past goalkeeper Nicholas Clarke.

Tivoli rallied and Alton Lewis who was left unguarded at the far left post, snapped up a loose ball from a corner and fired it back into the goal in time added.

Tivoli Gardens were reduced to 10 players when Anthony Nelson was sent off after flooring goalkeeper Daniel Russell in an off the ball incident.
