Water woes in the capital city
SOME of the capital city’s water storage facilities fell lower yesterday, forcing the state-run National Water Commission to institute further lock-offs.
“As low rainfall in the Hermitage watershed area continues to affect the water supply to several communities across the Corporate Area, the National Water Commission has been forced to implement water restrictions to areas in and around Stony Hill and other areas served by the Seaview Water Treatment Plant as well,” the commission said in a statement.
It said that beginning today, customers will, depending on their elevation and location on the system, either have no piped water or have low water pressure as follows:
.12:00 noon – 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm – 4:00 am daily in the Stony Hill area;
. 9:00 am – 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm – 5:00 am in areas served by the Tavistock Tank in Jack’s Hill.
The areas to be affected served by the Tavistock Tank include:
. Farringdon Heights;
. Farringdon Way;
. Millsborough Avenue;
. Millsborough Crescent;
. Riva Ridge;
. Ridgeway;
. Linneman Avenue; and
. Dooley Boulevard.
At the same time, the commission said customers served by the Constant Spring Treatment Plant will continue to experience restrictions between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm to 4:00 am daily.
