Bloody Friday claims 5
In one of the bloodiest Fridays in recent times, five people lost their lives in a single day, four by the gun and one by the knife, police reported yesterday.
On the roll call of death are:
. Troy Landell, otherwise called “Papa”, 22 of Norman Lane, Kingston 11 who was shot by unknown assailants at his home at about 9:40 Friday night.
. A man identified only as “Blacks” was shot dead also by unknown assailants at Pelican Parade in Olympic Gardens Kingston 11 at about 8:30 pm Friday.
. Gregory Thomas, otherwise called “Chiney” of Bull Bay, St Andrew and who was shot dead in an alleged shoot-out with members of a police party at Bito District, Bull Bay on Friday. A home-made gun was seized, the police said. The Bureau of Special Investigations has commenced a probe into the incident.
. Fitz Thomas, 40, security guard of Wellington Road, Kingston 13 was shot dead by two gunmen during a robbery at a business establishment on Orange Street in downtown Kingston. The security guard who challenged the robbers was shot during an exchange of gunfire. The gunmen escaped leaving behind a Bryco 9mm pistol. A man who later turned up at hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds was positively identified as one of the robbers and admitted under police guard.
. Sylvester Henry, 35, of Greenwich Town, Kingston was stabbed to death and his 25-year-old common law wife injured when they attempted to quell a dispute between neighbours on Friday. Their alleged attacker, Kevin Crooks, also of Greenwich Town has been arrested and charged with murder.
