Man accused of killing guard at funeral home still on the run
POLICE were yesterday still searching for the man accused of killing a guard during a robbery at a funeral home in Kingston last Friday.
The accused, Christopher Davis, alias ‘Blacks’, escaped police custody at the Kingston Public Hospital on Friday.
He has been accused of participating in the robbery of the Serenity Funeral Home in downtown, Kingston during which security guard Fitz Thopmson, 40, was fatally shot. Davis, the police said, is from Rosemary Lane in Kingston.
According to the Constabulary Communication Network, at approximately 3:00 pm on Friday, two men armed with guns went to the funeral home and began to rob persons who were at the premises. Thompson, the police said, fired several shots at the two hold-up men, but was cut down when the fire was returned.
The police said that Davis, who later turned up at the Kingston Public Hospital to get treatment for gunshot wounds, was arrested after he was allegedly pointed out as one of the funeral home robbers. However, at approximately 8:35 that night, Davis, who was under police guard, was discovered missing.
