KINGSTON, Jamaica – Fireworks are expected in the girls’ sprint hurdles final on Saturday’s final day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletic Championships after records were broken in two classes and equalled in one during Friday’s semi-finals at the national stadium.

Tiana Marshall of Wolmer’s, last year’s Class 2 champion, ran 12.98 seconds to break the meet record of 13.00 seconds for the 100m hurdles set in 2022 by Hydel’s Oneka Wilson.

Bryana Davidson of St Jago also advanced to the final with 13.71 as well as Shakeya Reid of Penwood High 13.74 and Holmwood’s Regina Bailey who ran 13.76.

Three athletes ran under the Class 3 80m record of 10.87 seconds set in 2022 by St Jago High’s Camoy Binger but Edwin Allen’s Tashana Godfrey’s 10.75 was pushed by an illegal wind of 2.6m/s.

Alpha Academy’s Azaria Harris is the new record holder with a wind legal 10.80 seconds, while Edwin Allen’s Danelia Clarke was also under the old mark with 10.82.

Keneisha Robinson of Hydel equaled the Class 4, 70m hurdles record with 10.38 seconds (1.2m/s).

Aleisha McDonald of Alpha also advanced with 10.69, as well as Vere’s Brianna King who finished in 10.74 seconds while Edwin Allen’s Shamera Samuels ran 10.75.

Wolmer’s Akeelah Bell led the Class 2 qualifiers with 13.15, followed by Annieka Carnegie of Hydel with 13.24, Martina Parkes of St Jago -13.39 and Wolmer’s Jadea Harris -13.42.
