PIOJ says IDB loan freeze not true
DIRECTOR-GENERAL of the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) Dr Wesley Hughes said yesterday that recent statements in the media, suggesting a freeze on the investment loans by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) were erroneous and misleading.
The IDB, said Hughes, recently approved a new Country Strategy to guide its activities in Jamaica for a three-year period from 2006-2009 and has committed to increase its loan portfolio to Jamaica by an additional US$125 million (up to US$90 million for budget support and US$35 million for direct lending to the private sector).
