Student stabs man at Maldon High
MALDON, St James – A 15-year-old student was yesterday arrested for allegedly stabbing a man on the compound of the Maldon High School, days after parents tried to shut down the facility to protest against the board’s decision to oust provisional principal Derrick Wilson.
The police said Demar Mitto, who has been admitted to hospital in serious condition, was stabbed after an altercation developed between him and a student at the school’s tuck shop at about 11:30 am.
According to Sergeant Abe Aries of the Spring Mount Police Station, Mitto, who regularly buys food on the school’s compound, allegedly tried to push himself ahead of the student when the quarrel developed. The boy allegedly used a knife to stab him in the back after Mitto shoved him.
