Woman among four arrested in missing couple case
A woman is among those arrested in connection with the disappearance of elderly Mandeville couple Richard and Julia Lyn. The woman’s name has not been released by police, but she has been identified as a relative of one of the three men who were also arrested in connection with the couple’s disappearance.
Police say one of the men in custody, Lennox Swaby, also called ‘Son Son’, was out on bail for the 2004 murder of a 14-year-old girl, whose body was found in a water tank in the parish. The murder case is set to come before the Mandeville Resident Magistrate’s Court in January.
Some of the stolen appliances, furniture and golf clubs belonging to the Lyns were found in a house occupied by Swaby, but investigators say the suspects are not giving up any information as to the whereabouts of the Lyns. The police have been conducting daily searches for the missing couple, but have so far come up empty-handed. Yesterday, the cops postponed their search efforts.
“We did not conduct any searches today [Tuesday] because we are looking at employing new strategies,” the head of the Major Investigation Task Force, Deputy Commissioner Les Green, told the Observer.
The police say they have received a number of tips, but none has yielded success.
