Ian Randle to co-publish Bob Woolmer’s book
JAMAICAN publisher, Ian Randle is collaborating with South Africa’s New Africa Books (NAB) on a book that Bob Woolmer, the Pakistan cricket coach was working on up to his death in controversial circumstances here last month.
“We are now working together to push forward with the publication of the book,” Randle told the Observer.,/B>
Cape Town-based New Africa Books said the book to be titled Discovering Cricket: The Art and Science of the Game, would be released in September of this year under the David Philip imprint.
It is co-written with Professor Tim Noakes and Dr Helen Moffett, NAB said.
The African publishing firm expressed condolences to the family of Bob Woolmer in a press statement which also sought to put to rest what it said was speculation about the contents of the book.
The book “does not contain any ‘explosive’ revelations around cricket and match-fixing”, the statement said, in obvious reference to allegations which surfaced that Woolmer might have been involved in the illegal practice.
“It is the product of a lifetime’s involvement with the game. It will be a major contribution to the literature on cricket, and the legacy of a great coach and profoundly decent man,” NAB managing director, Brian Wafawarowa said.
