Deportee found dead
This is the unfinished house in Turner’s District, Clarendon, in which the body of 32-year-old deportee Robert Johnson (inset) was found yesterday with its throat slashed. “Now kill today,” read a note, scribbled in blood, on the wall beside the body. A bloody machete was discovered next to the body that was sprawled out on a bed in the back room of the house.
The police said the death was being treated as suicide, and that it was Johnson’s second attempt at taking his own life.
According to the police, while in Philadelphia, United States in 2002 Johnson attempted to take his life and was committed to a mental institution where he underwent treatment for schizophrenia. The police also said Johnson was convicted in the US for several gun crimes committed in several different states, including the shooting of a police officer. The unemployed Johnson was deported to the island three months ago.
