Two die as delivery truck plunges over precipice
OCHO RIOS, St Ann – Two men were killed yesterday when the delivery truck in which they were travelling plunged 150 feet into a ravine along the Chalky Hill main road in the parish.
The deaths pushed the number of road fatalities in the parish for the year to 28, one more than that for the entire 2006.
The names of the victims, who were passengers in the truck, were not released as police said their relatives had not yet been informed. However, they were said to be residents of Kingston, the Jamaican capital.
The driver of the truck was admitted to hospital in “serious but stable” condition.
The accident happened eight days after an accident along the Llandovery main road between a passenger bus and a truck claimed five lives, and five days after another accident in Ocho Rios claimed two more lives.
