Phased resumption at the Pegasus
The Jamaica Pegasus Hotel says it has effected a phased resumption of activities following the fire on Tuesday that damaged a storeroom and some essential facilities at the hotel.
A news release from the hotel yesterday reported General Manager Eldon Bremner as saying that functions previously booked for the hotel’s Grand Jamaica Suite and other lobby and lower lobby function rooms have continued throughout this week, and there will be no change going forward.
However, Bremner said that the hotel will not be accepting bookings for September, for the bedroom floors, as they will need the time “to ensure optimum functioning of all the systems at the property”. They will also be using the opportunity to complete an upgrading and refurbishment programme that began last year.
Bremner noted that the upgrading programme which started last November has progressed floor by floor with the least possible inconvenience to the hotel’s thousands of loyal guests.
“We will be using the coming four weeks to implement the enhancements that will allow the Jamaica Pegasus to maintain its reputation as Kingston’s preferred hotel,” Bremner said.
In the meantime, in addition to the lobby and lower lobby function rooms, the hotel’s Country Kitchen restaurant and Pool bar are open to guests and the public and the 24-hour Café Deli and Columbus Italian Restaurant will reopen shortly, the news release said.
