$12-m bounty on a dozen wanted men

THE police yesterday announced a $1-million bounty each for Jamaica’s 12 most wanted criminals.

The 12 include the suspected killer of Sergeant Egerton Brown, a bodyguard to former Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller, as well as that of Corporal Dave Daley of the Duhaney Park Police Station who was murdered in February.

“This is the most money being offered at any one time for the arrest of wanted men,” Karl Angell, the constabulary’s director for communications, told a press briefing at the Office of the Commissioner of Police in Kingston.

Sergeant Brown was shot and killed along Sundown Crescent, off Molynes Road in Kingston, on September 6, after dropping off a female passenger at home.

Police later named Carey Rose, alias Tyson, as a suspect in the murder of the policeman. The 19-year-old suspect, who it is believed resides at Yancey Place, Kingston 11, is approximately five feet 10 inches tall, of dark complexion with bleached face, hands and neck. Rose has a straight face, small mouth, with black lips and is said to sport the cornrow hairstyle and two earrings in the left ear, said the police.

Police said Rose has been a frequent visitor to Dunrobin Avenue, Australia Road, Yancey Place, Balcombe Drive, Olympic Way and Sundown Crescent, all in Kingston.

Corporal Daley’s alleged killer, Lincoln Powell, alias Harry Dog, who resides in Brook Valley, Duhaney Park, is six feet tall, of dark complexion and is medium built. Powell, said the police, is a regular visitor to Matthews Lane and the Pearnel Charles Arcade in downtown Kingston, and Meadowbrook in St Andrew.

The list also includes:

. Three brothers – Wayne Dryden, 34, Deon ‘Long Head’ Dryden, 32, and Linton Dryden, 29. The three of High Mountain, Bog Walk, are wanted for the murders of Elaine Chin, 33, and Christine Chin 52, at their home in High Mountain on June 17, 2005.

. Kemor Brooks, alias Problem Child, 23, of Greenwich Town in Kingston, who is wanted on four counts of murder committed between last year and March of this year. He is of black complexion, five feet 10 inches tall, with dark brown eyes.

. Wilberforce Matterson, alias Cracker, 22, of Lesser Portmore Villa in Gregory Park, St Catherine. He is wanted on charges of murder, shooting and robbery, stemming from incidents in St Catherine last year. He is 5 feet 10 inches tall, of dark complexion, with bleached out face and thick eyebrows and slim built.

. Cedrick Murray, otherwise called Paul Brown and Dogie, who is wanted for a triple murder on Felicity Road in Montego Bay on February 9 last year. Murray, 34, is of black complexion, has a big head, broad nose, thick lips and pointed chin.

. Eldon Calvert, wanted on several counts of murder and shootings in the Meghie Top area of St James in 2005 and 2006. The 24-year-old Calvert is 5 feet 9 inches tall, of dark complexion and slim built.

. Gerald ‘Rado’ Taylor of Sun Valley, Glendevon, St James, who is wanted for murder and shooting in the Blood Lane area on November 7 last year. Taylor who is believed to be between the ages of 26 and 28 years old is 5 feet 9 inches tall, slim built and of light complexion.

. Richard Brown Jesus, otherwise called Jessie, of Sunlight Street in the Kingston 13 area of Maxfield Avenue. He is wanted on a charge of murder, stemming from a shooting incident along Ramsey Road, Kingston 13, on July 22. He is about 5 feet 9 inches tall, of slim built, dark complexion, large mouth, brown-stained teeth and sports a plaited hairstyle.
