East Hanover election petition hearing continues today
The motion brought by Dr DK Duncan (East Hanover) to strike out an election petition brought by the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) Barrington Gray is scheduled to continue today in the Supreme Court.
The in-chambers hearing completed its second day last Friday with the cross examination of one of five witnesses by attorney Abe Dabdoub, who is representing Duncan.
Gray had filed the election petition against Duncan following the magisterial recount of votes in the constituency after the September 3, 2007 general elections. Gray is contending that irregular counting of ballots by the magistrate cost him the seat.
But before the election petition could be heard, Duncan filed the application to strike out the petition on the ground that he was not served by Gray.
