Frome take on Westmoreland Police Youth Club in WFA semis
FROME, Westmoreland-
Former champions Frome FC will continue their quest for their second Westmoreland Football Association’s Knock-Out title in three seasons this afternoon when they take on Westmoreland Police Youth Club in one semi-final at the Frome Sports Club.
Frome, who eliminated Straths FC in the quarter-finals, won the title in the 2006-07 season when they took the double and were promoted to the Western Confederation Super League.
They were relegated back to the Westmoreland FA at the end of last season after just one year in the Confederation League.
In the other semi-final promoted Poolside and Paul Island will meet at Belle Isle Sports Complex.
Paul Island booked their sport after Western Confederation team Grange Hill failed to field a team for the continuation after bad light had caused a premature end to their quarter-final game tied at 3-3 after 90 minutes.
The WFA had ruled that the game would continue with the playing of extra time and if needed penalties but Grange Hill failed to produce a team.
The winners will advance to the final set for next week.
