Lauderhill’s mayor to tour Trelawny
FALMOUTH, Trelawny – Mayor of Lauderhill, Richard J Kaplan will head a 15 -man delegation from that city on a three day visit to Trelawny at the end of this month.
“The team is coming to foster relationships in trade and basically to look at business opportunities in the parish”.
Mayor of Falmouth, Colin Gager explained yesterday.
Gager said the delegation which will include businessmen and public sector officials will participate in a wide range of business and social activities during their stay from April 29 to May 1.
In addition to a town meeting in Falmouth, these, he said, will include visits to:
. The Bob Marley School of Arts;
. The William Knibb High School;
. Pinto’s Pottery;
. The Good Hope Great House;
. The Jacob Taylor Craft complex;
. The Trelawny Multipurpose Stadium and
. The Outameni Experience.
A cocktail reception will be held for the delegation at the Starfish Resort on April 30.
The city of Lauderhill, USA, and the town of Falmouth were twinned just over two years ago.
But since that time, the parish has not
benefitted substantially from the twinning.
Mayor Gager said yesterday, however, that he was hopeful that the planned visit will bring tangible results.
Meanwhile, Gager said that a team of councillors of the Trelawny Parish Council and the Trelawny Chamber of Commerce and Industry will visit Lauderhill in June to participate in that city’s 50 anniversary’s celebrations.
The cost of that trip, mayor Gager noted, will be borne by individuals attending the celebrations.
