Twenty-six-year-old Keeland Wilson, also known as P9, is swiftly climbing the musical charts with his recent single As Long As I Live. The single, which has been rotating frequently on local radio stations, hallmarks his formal musical transcendence and already, the reception on the street has been great.

“Everybody on the street love it man,” he declared, adding that the video is set for release on local television soon.

Wilson explained that his interest in music started from as early as nine years old.

“Me did start with rapping and hip-hop music from school days and it is from there that me all get the name P9,” he stated, recounting his days at Young Man Christian Association and the Solid Base Computer Institution, where he attended classes.

Wilson currently operates under the management of Greg Clarke and Jorvan Hayden from Bigbomb Entertainment. He describes his music as “positive and uplifting”, despite its intrinsic dancehall flavour.

“Mi try to mek it positive man. No slackness man,” he affirmed.

He expressed his admiration for renowned reggae artiste Bob Marley, whom he reveres as his greatest musical inspiration, Bounty Killer, whose lyrical craft he admires.

“Bob Marley is positive and religious and has clean lyrics and that’s me, so I look up to him.”

With his knack for deejaying, singing and rhythm production, the father of a two-year-old-daughter seems set to have a bright future.

“There is no stopping for me right now. I am determined to make it to the top,” he stated.

In the next five years P9 is hoping to emerge as one of the best deejays from Jamaica. He is looking forward to future collaborations with Assassin, P Diddy and Keisha Cole.

He is also working hard at promoting his music, performing at various local sessions and broadcasting his musical productions via YouTube® and Facebook®. He is booked to perform at Sting and the West Kingston Jamboree this Christmas, so look out for him.
