Recently TEENage caught up with hot new ZipJock, Bambino, who has been blazing the Zip 103 FM airwaves since June of this year. Bambino filled the 6:00 am to 10:00 am slot from Tuesdays to Fridays, after Nikki Z left earlier in the year.

Describing himself as a ‘hustla’, Bambino told TEENage, which his disc jockey (DJ) career that was inspired by his brother, began in Miami where they played in clubs and at parties.

Born and raised in Jamaica, Orrett ‘Bambino’ Hart left the island after his years at Campion College to attend Tampa University in Florida. Regrettably though, he dropped out, all the while planning to go back, and began his career as a DJ, producer, artiste and MC.

He explained that his alter ego, Trever Off-Key, began in Miami where he did demos and mixed CDs.

Now known for comedic remixes to popular songs, Trever Off-Key’s singles include his remix of Wyclef’s Someone Please Call 911 and T-Pain’s Buy You A Drink, a collaboration done with Macka Diamond. His recent release Butter Pon Yuh Bread – a remix of Chino’s Woman Pon Yuh Head – is attracting much attention, but he admits that his biggest song to date is his remix of Beyonce’s To The Left that he entitled To The Right.

Still making his mark in Miami with his group Gambino Sound, Bambino is busy in Jamaica building his name, and hopes to be more established by next year. He also hopes to release a Trever Off-Key album by next summer.

When TEENage asked the versatile DJ how he balanced his very busy work life with family, he said that he lives his life minute to minute. He loves family and ensures that he makes time to spend with his two-year-old son.

Acknowledging the influence that entertainers have on TEENs, Bambino’s advises to “Know what you are doing. Don’t jump the gun, know your stuff and know it well. Be yourself and don’t try to change, from you have the talent, people will see it.”
