Cavalier FC maintain lead in Super League
Locksley Thompson’s 83rd-minute penalty carried leaders Cavalier to a 1-0 win over Duhaney Park at Baldwin Crescent and kept them a point ahead of Rae Town and Santos in the Claro/KSAFA/Super League yesterday.
In other games, Rae Town slammed Bull Bay 4-2; Santos eased past Meadhaven, 3-1; Real Mona stopped Maverley/Hughenden 3-0; Constant Spring played to a 2-2 draw with JDF, while Mountain View and Barbican played out a similar result.
At Baldwin Crescent, the visitors had a frustrating afternoon until a defender was called for handball inside the box seven minutes from time.
Thompson stabbed home the spot kick to give last season’s runners-up a hard-fought victory, which brings their points tally to 20.
At Breezy Castle, Rae Town stayed in touch after a brace each from Keyon Leslie (32nd and 44th) and Damion Jackson (56th and 84th) saw them to victory over Bull Bay.
Oneil Martin (31st and 87th) netted both goals for Bull Bay.
At Michigan Oval, Fabian Nethersole (77th, 87th and 93rd) bagged the only hat-trick of the round to lead Santos past Meadhaven.
Omary Edwards (23rd) scored Meadhaven’s consolation.
Real Mona also had one of the day’s most convincing wins, as Akeeli Martin (40th), Jordon Moses (66th) and Sheldon Minott (75th) scored for them in their win against Maverley.
At Excelsior, Dadrian Dixon (sixth) and Ricardo Haughton-Higgins (29th) put Barbican in front. However, Keneil Flowers equalised for Mountain View on the stroke of half-time and Yohan Blake netted in the 53rd.
At Constant Spring, Norado Prawl put the home team ahead with goals in the 36th and 51st minutes, but second-half goals from Oneil Spence (67th) and Rayon Johnson (72nd) salvaged a result for the visitors.
