The result of true fellowship
JOHN 17:22b and 23a: “That they may be one even as we are one; I in them and Thou in Me, that they may be made perfect in one.” The unity implied here by Jesus Christ is one of 24/7 true fellowship; leaving no room for misconceptions. To get to this level of fellowship we must be willing to give up the right to ourselves and our personal independence.
To be made perfect in one with the Lord, our fellowship must be one of mutual trust; not only are we required to have complete trust in God, but we must also mirror the trustworthy character of God Himself. When we experience the transforming power of God’s love, we will no longer insist on the right to ourselves and our individuality or precious personality (Read Romans 12:1-3). We will gladly submit to God’s divine guidance and fellowship. Our Heavenly Father’s proven track record is one of unpredictable dynamics; just when we think all is lost, God will surprise and delight us with mercy, grace and blessings far beyond our natural expectation.
The result of true fellowship with God is a spiritual intimate knowledge and understanding with a yearning for constant communion, which can be achieved both verbally and non-verbally. This fellowship results in a deep peace that is not affected by external circumstances or situations. It is the overflowing, effervescing love that conquers all fear and vulnerability. This is the marvellous result of true fellowship with God!
Eternal Father, we pray that as a nation we will seek to be one with You so that we will constantly be in Your divine presence and so experience Your glory and blessings. We will then be known to all, as a nation whose God is the Lord.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
