IF recording artiste Sean Kingston has his way, this Saturday’s Coke Zero concert in Kingston will be “off the chain”. Speaking with Splash from his base in Florida, the singer — best known for his chart-topping hit, Beautiful Girls — says he will definitely be putting his all into the performance.

“Mi haffi mad it up!,” Sean states emphatically, easily interchanging his America accent with the Jamaican, a feature of the nearly 10-minute telephone conversation.

“Believe it or not, this is my first performance in Kingston, and with a name like Sean Kingston, I just have to deliver for the fans in that city. I will definitely be giving the local audience a show like they have never seen. I will be coming with a full band and just turning the venue upside down.”

The Coke Zero concert will also feature fresh act, Iyaz, who is signed to Sean’s very own record label. “I am very excited to bring this act to Jamaica at this time, as he is currently doing well on the international scene and from where I sit, big things are in store for him,” Sean states.

Speaking of his record label, Sean explains that it is just one of the things that is keeping him busy at this time. “I’m doing a lot of songwriting and recordings for both myself and a number of other artistes including Ciara, Stephen Marley and Sean Paul.”

He is also working on material for his next album which is set for release in April of this year. “Wi record five track already,” again slipping into his strong, authentic Jamaican accent. “The first single is a collaboration with Akon, and that should be out by February.”

He further adds that this album should reflect the diversity and maturity of his songwriting and delivery skills. “There is definitely some difference in our approach to the ‘ting’. The concepts and melodies are a lot more mature. When we first started out everything sounded the same, now we are spreading out and that should be seen and heard in the music and performance.”

But music is not the only thing occupying Sean Kingston at this time. The recording artiste is currently involved in talks with Disney with regard to developing a project for television. “Think Fresh Prince of Belair and Moesha meets reality show, that’s the kind of feel they are going for, so we will see where that goes,” he explains.

In addition to the international superstars Sean Kingston and Iyaz, Saturday’s concert will feature local artistes Etana, Ding Dong, Elephant Man, Demarco, Alaine, Tifa among others at the LIME Golf Academy in New Kingston.
