Dancing out his dreams
DELANO McKenzie, better known as Dreem to his fans and colleagues, was born May 3 1987. To many, McKenzie was made for dancing. He attended Spanish Town Primary School where he always talked about becoming a dancer. He ‘danced’ his way through primary school and the got accepted to St Jago High School where he always made an impact by entertaining people with his dance moves, most popularly those of the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
He always had the attention of his schoolmates when he danced and would, after school, conduct dance classes, teaching his colleagues some of the dances that were popular at the time. Dreem, however, wasn’t content with being just a dancer. He knew from early that he needed a good education and therefore never wasted any time during high school, always managing to balance his school work with dance practice. He was successful at his CXC examinations, acquiring five subjects.
His talent has taken him to countries such as Curacao and Panama. Nowmore established, Dreem has made appeared at shows such as Sting, Foota Hype Birthday Bash, Total Niceness and was scheduled to perform at St Ann Heritage Fest in November. Dreem frequents the more popular weekly shows like Passa Passa, Weddy Weddy Wednesdays and Fresh Fridays where he can be seen dancing with the likes of Ding Dong, Sterling Global, L A Squad and Poochie Lou.
Dreem noted that he just wants to be himself and as long as he can dance here and abroad, that in itself is satisfying.
