KC, St Mary score huge wins in TT
DEFENDING Urban Under-16 champions Kingston College (KC) blanked hosts Ardenne 5-0 and defending Rural Under-19 boys champions St Mary High drubbed visitors St Mary Technical 5-0, in two of 10 Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) table tennis matches played on Thursday.
In two other Urban matches played, former Under-19 champions Wolmer’s Boys blanked hosts Cumberland 5-0, and KC, who were beaten Under-19 finalists last year, also blanked hosts Ardenne 5-0 in this age-group category, in the second match of the double header.
In three of the six other Rural matches played, hosts Manchester High won all three encounters in the triple header against DeCarteret, winning 5-0 in boys’ Under-19, 3-1 in girls’ Under-16 and 3-2 in boys’ Under-16.
Belair, who were beaten rural finalists last time out, drubbed Cross Keys 5-0 in both boys’ Under-19 and boys’ Under-16.
And Glenmuir whipped visitors Knox, who are returning to the competition after a few years’ absence, 5-0 in boys’ Under-19.
The competition continues next Monday at 2:30 pm with three Urban girls’ Under-16 matches. Wolmer’s will entertain Ardenne, St Jago will be at home to Gaynstead and Hillel will visit Campion.
In individual results in the Belair versus Cross Keys Under-19 boys match on Thursday, the Belair players all had 3-0 victories over their opponents — Kahlil Little over Waydeen Dixon, Michael Fearon over Tremoy Reid, Rij Findlay over Mario Ebanks, Samuel Ricketts over Meleek Robinson and Bruce Murray over Chin-Wayne Merchant.
And in the Belair/Cross Keys Under-16 boys duel, Dyllon Chambers, Simon Van Barneveld, Alexander Chin and Brian Muir crushed Rashane Langley, Nemoy Wellington, Hashane Langley and Romario Bartley by 3-0 scores; and Fletcher Jones stopped Geoff Gayle 3-1, for Belair’s 5-0 triumph.
Glenmuir blanked Knox 5-0 in boys’ Under-19, as Floyd Newell outplayed Makarios Berry 3-1, Adrian Thomas crushed Javon Stone 3-0, Giovaughni Watkis trounced Mickalia Houlbert 3-0, Greg Buchanan turned back Jovane Wilson 3-1 and Tavian Hill eased past Odane Masters 3-0.
