32nd Milo Western Relays to be launched today
MONTEGO BAY, St James — The 32nd Milo Western Relays will be launched this morning at a press conference at the Jamaica Grandiosa Hotel.
The meet, scheduled for February 13, will for the second time in its history be held outside of Montego Bay– at the GC Foster Sports College– due to the unavailability of the Catherine Hall stadium.
According to a release issued late Monday, Meet Director Ray Harvey said the “continued unavailability of the Catherine Hall stadium” had “forced” them to take the meet to the GC Foster Sports College in Angels, St Catherine, for the second straight year, despite assurances from the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) late last year that the facility would be made available.
Despite his disappointment at having to “deprive western Jamaica of its premier track and field event”, Harvey said they were expecting the usual large turnout of athletes from all over the island and the high standard of competition.
