‘Herbert’, CC dominate b-ball champions
MONTEGO BAY, ST JAMES — WESTERN champions Herbert Morrison High and Cornwall College dominated last week’s awards ceremony of the recently concluded ISSA/KFC Western Conference high schools basketball championships.
Players from both teams shared honours for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for
both the regular season and play-offs.
Herbert Morrison’s Jervis Hamilton was the regular season MVP in the Under-19 section while his teammate Jamoi Richards won the award for the play-offs.
In the Under-16 section, Cornwall College’s Robert McIntosh was the regular season MVP while his teammate Alex McFarlane won the award for the play-offs.
Hamilton also won two sectional awards — top rebounder — 179 and leading scorer with 267 points.
Cornwall College players won three titles with Gavin Brown taking two — most steals and most assists — while Peter Michael Reid won the award for most blocked shots.
Muschett High’s Jason Billings had the most free throws while Mannings’ Troy Reid scored the most three- pointers with 16.
Cornwall College players took five of the seven awards in the Under-16 section; Robert McIntosh and Shane Graham won two awards each.
McIntosh won for most assists and leading scorer while Graham won for leading blocked shots and top rebounder.
Alex McFarlane won the award for most steals while Shavoy Daley of Muschett won the awards for the top free-thrower and top three-
point shooter.
