School softball season starts
THE 2010 Jamaica Amateur Softball Association (JASA) schoolboys and girls season got underway with an opening ceremony and a Swing Fest Rally at the Mico University
on Wednesday.
Excelsior and Merl Grove were the winners of the uniform parade for boys and girls, respectively. Excelsior defeated Pembroke Hall and Excelsior beat Dinthill Technical in the Swing Fest Rally for boys and girls, in that order.
The league is scheduled to begin on Monday between defending champions St Hugh’s and Merl Grove at the St Hugh’s diamond, and Pembroke Hall hosting Dinthill Technical at Pembroke Hall diamond. Action starts at 2:00 pm.
Meanwhile, seven schools will contest the Girls League, while only three schools will compete in the Boys League. The girls will play home and away matches, while the boys will play each other three times.
The schools playing in the girls’ league are defending champions St Hugh’s High, Merl Grove High, Pembroke Hall High, Excelsior High, Dinthill Technical, Meadowbrook High and Wolmer’s.
Defending champions Dinthill Technical, Excelsior High and Meadowbrook High are the three schools taking part in the boys’ league.
