HOLMWOOD Technical boys have retained their Milo Grand Junior Grand Prix 4x800m title, while Edwin Allen High Girls have replaced Manchester High as winners of the girls crown.

Both schools will get the trophy and $75,000, while Manchester girls and Munro College boys are the first winners in the 4x400m series introduced this year.

Last year when the initiative was launched, the events were the 4x800m relay and the 100m dash for boys and girls.

In the 4x800m this year, Holmwood’s boys boast a commanding 30-point buffer over Bellefield High and lead with 58 points, with the sixth race in the series at the GC Foster Classic the only race left to be competed.

Holmwood have won four of the five races so far, including at the Gibson Relays last weekend, to avenge their only loss to so far — to Kingston College at the Milo Western Relays in mid-February.

They won at Central Hurdles and Relays, STETHS Invitational and JAAA/Puma meet at Jamalco.

Meanwhile, except for their loss to the Team Bickle US team at the Gibson Relays, the Edwin Allen team boasts a perfect record.

They were, however, awarded the 12 points on Saturday as the Americans were not part of the series and Edwin Allen was the first Jamaican high school team across the finish line.

Edwin Allen are on 60 points, 14 more than Holmwood (46) with Manchester next on 44, and the race will be for the $40,000 second-place as regardless of the outcome, the leaders cannot be overtaken.

Meanwhile, in the boys 4x400m, despite their finishing fourth at Gibson on Saturday, Munro’s 42 points is 15 more than Holmwood’s, while Manchester girls’ 58 points earned from four wins and a second place is 14 more than Edwin Allen’s.
