Reno inch closer towards Western Confed Super League crown
FROME, Westmoreland — Former champions Reno FC are two points away from claiming their second Western Confederation Super League after hammering St James club Catherine Hall 6-0 in their return-round game at the Frome Sports Club on Sunday.
Reno’s win and Seba United’s 1-1 draw against Frome in Montego Bay, has given the Westmoreland outfit a five-point buffer with two sets of matches to go, including the penultimate set on Wednesday.
Reno, the only unbeaten team left in the competition, lead with 56 points, while Seba United are next on 51, with Bamboo of Hanover in third place on 36 points.
Meanwhile, former Premier League champions Violet Kickers appear on the verge of being relegated after losing their 14th game on Sunday, going down 0-2 to Petersfield, and are stuck on 12 points.
To avoid the drop Violet kickers are forced to win their next two games by wide margins, while hoping that neither Wadadah nor Petersfield gain another point, an improbable equation.
They will join Prosper FC, who dropped out three rounds ago.
At Frome on Sunday, newcomers Sheldon Bryan, who transferred from Exidos in the January transfer window, scored a hat-trick to lead Reno, while Craig Foster scored two and Nyron Davis got the other.
Bamboo moved back to third position after a 3-1 win over Granville United at Sam Sharpe Teachers College, while Frome eased past Catherine Hall into fourth place after taking a point from Seba.
The game between Wadadah and Mt Pelier set for Westgreen was not played.
