Creative, humble, real, original, musical and enthusiastic are the words forming the acronym that Shaun Chablal aka ZJ Chrome uses to describe himself. This Northern Caribbean University past student has been a disc jockey from the age of 13. Apart from being a ZJ on one of Jamaica’s hottest radio stations, Zip 103 Fm, Chrome says that he is also a sound engineer and producer.This radio personality does not believe that dancehall music promotes violence and he believes that dancehall music does not have a negative effect on TEENagers “Society and TV have more of a negative effect, along with people’s experience. Parents should play the role of educating their children on wrong and right and not leave this duty on others.”

When asked to predict a Jamaican artiste whom he believes will make it big internationally, Chrome cited Jamaican dancehall artiste Bugle because he believes his music will live on. Chrome supports the saying “Education is key” which is why he pursued a teritiary education at the Nothern Caribbean University. His advice to aspiring disc jockeys is “Practice makes perfect and being too different doesn’t always cut it.” Also ZJ Chrome does not believe it is hard to distinguish between his public and personal personas. “I know the difference, being a disc jockey and producer is my job and I am a unique individual; I always keep that focus.”

In 2009, the broadcasting commissio put some restrictions on what the content of artistes’ songs can entail. Chrome believes that these restrictions have not made it harder for artistes to “buss” because he only plays “hot” songs. TEENage readers would be surprised to know that Chrome sees himself as a chatterbox. Ladies would also be happy to know that he is still single.

Chrome’s Triple Bounce Riddim has been doing very well on not only Jamaican airwaves but also on international radio stations such as Hot 97 (American) and (British) radio stations.
