Christina Aguilera treats mum to lunch, celebrates Mother’s Day with son Max

As a relative newcomer to motherhood, Christina Aguilera is enjoying the novelty of Mother’s Day.

But as the American singer and her son Max, two and a half, spent Mother’s Day with her in-laws in New York, she made sure her own mother didn’t miss out on the day. Aguilera’s mother Shelly Kearns was treated to lunch at New York eatery Balthazar on Sunday.

Currently promoting her comeback album Bionic, the 29-year-old took time out to spend the day with husband Jordan Bratman and his parents Jack and Gail. After their lavish lunch, the three generations did a spot of shopping nearby. And despite being with her in-laws, Aguilera stopped by Agent Provocateur to check out some racy lingerie. Shelly is president of her daughter’s fan club, so it comes as no surprise that they have a very close bond. Christina’s childhood was filled with music as her mother played violin and piano professionally with the Youth Symphony Orchestra. Her father Fausto, who moved to the States from Ecuador, had built up a career in the military but is alleged to have abused Christina and her mother — and left the family when she was seven. Just a year later, with her mother’s blessing, the fledgling singer made her first professional appearance on the Star Search talent show — and a star was born.

Keeping fit the Kardashian way… carrying heavy shopping bags

Dressed in cycling shorts and lycra vest top, Kim Kardashian looks ready for a gruelling workout.

And that’s just what she got — Kardashian style.

The reality TV star popped into Barneys New York in Beverly Hills on her way home from the gym, and left laden with shopping bags. Her arms extended, she looked just like her personal trainer had given her weights to lift – except rather than dumbbells they were bags full of treats. The 29-year-old teamed the workout look with oversized sunglasses and a Chanel handbag. Perhaps she was picking up some gifts for her mother, Kris. With Sunday being Mother’s Day, Kim took to Twitter to say: “Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms out there! I love you mommy, thank you for everything u do for us!” And she added: “Kourtney, Khloe, Rob, Kendall, Kylie and I are making BeeShee for my mom right now! It’s an Armenian breakfast and sooo yummy!”

Mischa Barton hits a parked car… then her convertible breaks down

She only bought her classic Cadillac three months ago, but Mischa Barton is not having the best of luck with her pride and joy. The blonde actress managed to hit a parked car as she attempted to manoeuvre the vehicle yesterday. She apologised to the owner and headed off to meet friends for lunch. But hours later she was forced to call for assistance, after the stylish blue convertible broke down. The 24-year-old’s friends seemed resigned to the difficulties, sitting in the back seat as they awaited the tow truck. This isn’t the first time Mischa’s car has caused her difficulties.

Within hours of buying the vehicle she ground to a halt — after running out of petrol. The actress, best known for her role as Marissa Cooper in the OC, wore a pink print floral dress for her day out and about in Los Angeles.
