It’s all about the kids this month of May, it being Child Month so we continue this week with projects for kids. As parents we’re always screaming at the kids to “put away your toys” so we have to ensure that they have somewhere to put them; a toy box or bag is perfect. This week I’ll share with you a few ideas for stowing toys away and I’ll tell you about toy sacks, which are perfect to hang onto a crib or bed and can also be carried around the house easily with the toys.

Toy Chests are great for kids’ rooms because if you add a cushion to the top you can also have a bench, and the toys will be completely out of sight. You can make one from scratch or buy an unfinished one that you can make your own by staining it, painting on a picture or scene or by adding decorative handles and pulls to make it coordinate with other furniture in the room. Decorative decals and stickers are also a great way to decorate a chest and you can personalise it with the child’s name. The possibilities are endless and you are limited here only by your creativity.

Toy bags can be made from a pattern or you can copy a bag you already have. This is a perfect way to coordinate fabrics in a nursery or bedroom. Fabrics can be mixed and matched and the bags can also be made reversible and can be personalised or embellished.
