Ambassadors now third in Claro Senior League
ROSE HALL, St James — North Gully Ambassadors leaped two spots into third place in Zone B of the St James FA’s Claro Senior League on Friday after beating Barrett Town 1-0 in a third-round game at the Wyndham field.
Asornie Binger’s 68th-minute goal gave Gully Ambassadors their first win in the third round after a draw and a loss and took them to 18 points from 13 games — one more than Granville City, who have played a game less, but more importantly, closer to safety from relegation.
The loss was the second in a row for Barrett Town who are vying for the leadership in Zone A, and while they are tied on 22 points with Revelation, trail on goal difference and have played a game more.
At Tucker, Abes Academy’s relegation fears deepened after they were beaten 1-0 by Salt Spring Roses, who were scoring their first win in the third round.
The loss left Abes on five points from 12 games, last in Zone B and in serious danger of being relegated.
An own-goal gave Salt Spring Roses valuable three points which solidified their fourth place position in Zone A, on 17 points from 13 games, nine more than Mountain Villa, who have played two games less, but three behind neighbours Salt Spring United.
Semi-final qualifier Tomorrow’s People lead Zone B with 27 points, five more than Fogo United.
