Man killed, woman injured at shop in St Ann

ST ANN, Jamaica —Thirty-three year-old Kemar Brown, otherwise known as Mars, was shot and killed, whilst Norma Linton, also known as Barbara, was shot and injured in Bristol Alexandria, St Ann, sometime around 9:00 pm Friday.

Reports from the St Ann police are that Linton was at her place of business in Bristol, in the vicinity of Aabuthnott Gallimore High School along with Brown, who was assisting her to close up her shop.

Whilst doing so, they were approached by a lone gunman who demanded cash. The demands were not met, and the gunman opened fire, hitting Brown in the upper body. He died on the spot.

Linton was also shot in the upper body but managed to escape on foot and was assisted to the hospital by citizens close by. She has since been admitted.

The incident, though not a first of its nature in the vicinity, has left many residents in shock.

“Gunman come here so come rob and kill people, but right now nobody was expecting this to happen. People are scared and worried,” one resident told Observer Online.

Since the start of the year, St Ann has recorded two murders.

Investigations are ongoing.
